octave-communications-common software package provides communications package for Octave (arch-indep files), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install octave-communications-common
octave-communications-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the octave-communications-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep octave-communications-common *
You will get with octave-communications-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
